Punctual and typical of the period are the warnings from the usual well-known environmental associations, which urge the Regions to promulgate hunting calendars that do not extend beyond December 31st.
Animal rights and environmental organizations have been issuing threatening press releases to the regional offices responsible for drawing up hunting calendars, threatening because they naturally trumpet the threat of appeals to the various regional administrative courts.
Here is the WWF which, in agreement with ENPA, LAC, LAV and LIPU, has sent a letter to the Regional Councilors throughout Italy, imposing its ideas on the correct application of the Framework Law on Hunting, under penalty of the usual appeals to the TAR.
An example of an idea? Closing the hunting season for all bird species on December 31st.
Another brilliant idea is the general opening of the hunting season on October 1st, avoiding any form of pre-opening”.
But not only that, WWF & Co. are pushing for all hunting management tools (regional wildlife-hunting plan, provincial wildlife-hunting plans and hunting calendars) to be subjected to an Impact Assessment”.
Other even more fanciful ideas are that, in the absence of the VINCA, there should be an “explicit ban on hunting in Natura 2000 sites” and an “extension of the conservation measures provided for by current legislation for Natura 2000 sites to external habitats”.
Abruzzo deserves special mention; a request has been added to implement the adjacent area of the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park, established by Regional Government Decision No. 480 of July 5, 2018.
Summer is a season where it is reasonably hot …….
