The hunting world's leadership is working tirelessly to benefit all Italian hunters, engaging with institutions to achieve the best possible outcomes.
The recognized hunting associations and the CNCN ask the institutions to pay attention to the damage to crops caused by wild fauna and hope for a strengthening of synergies with the agricultural world in terms of wildlife containment and land management.
The Hunting World Steering Committee, representing Italian hunters, reaffirms its commitment to strengthening dialogue with institutions so that hunting-related activities, particularly those related to wildlife management for the protection of agricultural land, can resume during the current Phase 2.
Wildlife management interventions are a key component of protecting the agricultural sector, allowing farmers to carry out their work safely and in the best conditions. Hunting plays a key role in regulating the balance of wildlife, which, if uncontrolled, causes significant damage to agricultural crops.
In this context, the hunting system is committed to strengthening the synergies already in place with the agricultural world in terms of management, development and protection of the territory, thus contributing to ensuring sustainable growth for the primary sector and sufficient food supplies for all.
Furthermore, hunting and related activities do not pose any risk of potential coronavirus infection. The coronavirus health emergency, like what is happening in other sectors, is profoundly impacting the social, economic, and productive fabric that revolves around various economic systems, including hunting, with potentially serious consequences for the agricultural sector.
Having reached the peak of the emergency, we have entered Phase 2, which we hope will allow the small and medium-sized businesses that are so prevalent throughout Italy to resume operations, safeguarding essential production and continuing to secure jobs. These include all those operating in the hunting industry, whose turnover amounts to nearly €8 billion, or 0,44% of GDP, and employs nearly 90.000 people.
Social distancing and the use of masks will become mandatory for all activities in the coming weeks; the hunting world is ready to face this challenge, to restart following all necessary precautions and demonstrating a great sense of responsibility, which already characterizes this sector and its members, as demonstrated daily even during these days of crisis. Together, we will get through this!
