Hunting is showing signs of strong vitality in its evolution, leading it to confront new game species once almost absent from the national territory.
The Ungulate Database is a very important project and an innovative reference tool for understanding the evolution of wild ungulate populations. The project is particularly ambitious and focuses on suids, cervids, and bovids. For these animals, the database collects information on population numbers, hunting, potential reintroductions, and damage caused to agricultural and livestock production.
The Ungulate Database contains georeferenced data that the consultation program manages at various aggregation levels (Management Districts, ATCs, Provinces and Regions).
This is a very important step forward which demonstrates, as stated in the title, how hunting and hunters are increasingly active in scientific research relating to wildlife.
The hunter's contribution is fundamental, and for this reason, the training process for 21 hunters from Central Italy began last weekend in Badia Moscheta, carried out by the Environmental and Wildlife Education Center recognized by ISPRA.
