Selective hunting of wild boar was activated this year and achieved significant success in one month, with 477 animals killed.
Fabio Rolfi, Lombardy's Councillor for Hunting, reports that selective hunting operations are proving remarkably successful, with 477 hunts in one month.
Rolfi also specified the geographical details of the culls: 272 in Como, 127 in Varese, 66 in Lecco and 12 in Brescia, where the activity began a few days ago”.
The Councilor emphasized that these are significant numbers, demonstrating the widespread presence of ungulates in our region and, once again, highlighting the scale of the issue, including its impact on agriculture and human safety.
Rolfi also thanked the hunters who are carrying out an activity useful to the whole community.
This year, the Lombardy Region also introduced the practice of feeding, which is proving effective. To safeguard the work of our farmers, the de minimis regime must also be changed nationwide. Farmers must be fully compensated for damage suffered by wild fauna, not just 30%. The Lombardy Region continues its efforts to combat wild fauna, which, from the plains to the mountains, is causing enormous damage,” the regional councilor concluded, “and the alliance between farmers and hunters is the first step in curbing the problem,” Rolfi emphasized.
