ACMA and UCIM strategic meeting preceding the National Assembly.
In anticipation of the National Assembly in Rome, scheduled for tomorrow, December 12, the heads of Federcaccia's Sectoral Branches met for a regular meeting, led by the National Coordinator, Presidential Advisor Oscar Stella. The agenda highlighted the launch of a key initiative: the " Hunting and Biodiversity " project.
The Project: Documenting the Added Value for the Environment
This new strategy is part of the Federation's broader plan to document and promote the active and positive role of hunters in environmental management, an aspect often underestimated or denied by public debate.
The “Hunting and Biodiversity” project was conceived and will be managed by the FIdC Studies and Research Office , with the crucial collaboration of ACMA (Association of Aquatic Migratory Hunters) and UCIM (Office of Land Migratory Hunting), the sectors directly involved.
Focus on Hunting Stalls
The initiative focuses specifically on hunting hides , places that, by their very nature, require and benefit from maintenance and environmental management interventions carried out by hunters themselves. These interventions represent a tangible added value for local biodiversity , including actions such as:
-
Vegetation containment: To prevent excessive closure of certain habitats.
-
Creation of open areas: In predominantly wooded environments, promoting ecosystem diversity.
-
Targeted planting: Of trees and shrubs essential for feeding and providing shelter for birds.
The primary objective is to raise awareness and promote these benefits beyond the hunting community , challenging anti-hunting narratives that systematically deny hunters' contribution to conservation.
Data Collection Tool and Scientific Relevance
To achieve the goal of "providing certain and documented information" on the objective contribution of hunting to biodiversity in Italy, Federcaccia has prepared a key tool: a detailed questionnaire.
The questionnaire is designed to collect systematic and quantifiable data. The information will be entered into a national database managed by the Research and Studies Office.
The distribution
The questionnaire will be distributed widely through FIdC sections throughout the country and will be addressed to all stakeout holders.
Next Steps
The Federation has set itself the ambitious goal of presenting an initial scientific and documented report on the results achieved as early as 2026. This database and the resulting report will represent a fundamental tool for public debate and wildlife and hunting planning, providing an empirical basis to support the management role of the hunting world.
