It happened in Marsciano in the province of Perugia, where a hunter training his hunting dogs was attacked by two wolves.
The Marscianese countryside in the province of Perugia is far from being a remote woodland, yet wolves exist here too, and as in the case of the unfortunate hunter, they attack both animals and humans.
Furthermore, and this is very worrying, the attack occurred a short distance from residential areas.
The dynamics are common to many other wolf attacks: the two specimens appeared out of nowhere and attacked the dog first and then the hunter who intervened to defend it.
The dog was bitten numerous times, some of which even hit the hunter who intervened to protect him. The hunter received four stitches to his head and numerous wounds to his legs, while the dog fared worse, requiring numerous stitches to the various bite wounds he sustained.
