Pre-opening on September 1st for the species turtle dove, wood pigeon, hooded crow, jay, magpie, teal, mallard and garganey.
The Marche Region's hunting calendar is extensive, starting on Saturday, September 1st and ending on February 10th with the grey crow, magpie, jay, and wood pigeon.
This is the outcome of the Marche Regional Council meeting, which approved the regional hunting calendar for the 2018-2019 season. The decision followed a proposal from Councilor for Hunting Pieroni and has now been forwarded to the Council Committee. According to Pieroni, the finalization of the hunting calendar for the new season completes a virtuous process that began in the spring with the selective culling of wild boar, followed by a species control plan for improved wildlife management and environmental resources, with a particular focus on the protection of agricultural species.
The new hunting calendar leaves the provinces free to decide when and how to open wild boar hunting. The calendar includes the selective culling of fallow deer and roe deer starting in mid-August.
The calendar reminds that, for sedentary and migratory species, the number of animals killed should be noted on the permit immediately after the kill, which must be returned without fail by March 2019.
Furthermore, a derogation is foreseen for the culling of starlings, rock pigeons and collared doves, on the pre-opening days foreseen in the hunting calendar.
