The well-known Brescia-based company, a manufacturer of smoothbore and rifled guns, some of which are specialized, is expanding its range to include ammunition, designed for the type of hunting so beloved by hunters.
Effebi he puts the cartridge in the barrel and threatens the woodcock.
After having always produced smoothbore and rifled weapons, some of which specifically dedicated to the queen of the woods – we remember the Omega Queen double-barrelled shotgun – Effebi It is dedicated to ammunition and does so with particular attention to woodcock, producing spreaders, even if the latter have now entered into common use also in other types of smoothbore hunting, in particular for hunts where pointing and flushing dogs are used.
The choice of Effebi for its dispersant it was aimed at the wad and to achieve great efficiency it chose the wad patented by ALG, which has already given excellent proof of performance in the cartridges of the Umbrian manufacturer.
Entering the ammunition market, Effebi has chosen to do so, covering the most popular calibers as best as possible, preparing the ammunition in 12, 20 and 28 gauge.
The cartridges in the three calibers have common characteristics starting from the type of case, all made of plastic material, which in all three calibers is d3 type 3, as well as the length of 70 mm. The choice of powder also fell on the same propellant for the 12 and 20 gauge, Tecna n by Nobel Sport, primed with Cheddite Cx 2000 primer for the 12 gauge and Cx 1000 for the 20 gauge.
Cartridge 28 houses the M92S powder Baschieri & Pellagri triggered with a CX 1000.
Both powders are well-tolerant to the variations in temperature and humidity of the autumn and winter periods.
The wad in all three ammunition types is composite, as the ALG disperser in the ammunition requires a support base. This is made from a bior in the 12 gauge, while the other two gauges have complex wads where the cup is topped with a vegetable wad in the 20 gauge and a cork wad in the 28 gauge.
The ALG wad, as mentioned in the opening of this article, has proven itself well, and my experience with another gauge, my favorite 16 gauge, revealed a very useful dual function. It significantly broadens the pattern of peripheral pellets in a small space while also maintaining good density on longer shots.
The weights for the three home ammunitions Effebi they are all very consistent:
- 12 gauge – 36 grams available 7/8/9 pellets
- 20 gauge – 28 grams available 7/8/9 pellets
- 28 gauge – 23,5 grams available 8/9 pellets
For the closure, a 6-fold star-shaped closure was chosen for the 12 and 20 gauge, while the 28 gauge is closed with a round edge on a 3 mm thick fragmented cork disc.
The three cartridges have an extraordinary potential presence and those who will try them in the next hunting season will be able to only note and confirm it.
