The Arci Caccia association has always reiterated that hunters are always the first to respect and protect the territory, defending it from arsonists.
Indeed, regarding the Monte Serra fire that destroyed over a thousand hectares of land, the association expressed deep regret and understood the reasons why hunting was banned. What is unclear is why the region has issued a provision restricting hunting to another thousand hectares, allowing only ungulates to be hunted. These, hunted by hunters particularly accustomed to thorough observation, including with high-performance optics, would provide important protection against potential arsonists.
For Arci Caccia, there are no differences between hunting ungulates and other types of game, which is why it contradicts this provision, calling on the Region to adopt other measures and solutions.
A meeting has been organized in Cascine di Buti for October 11th to take stock of the situation, and all hunters are invited.
