IN THE UK, YOUNG PEOPLE COOK GAME
The first conference on career opportunities in the hunting world, organized by the FIDC Abbiatense Section of Milan and Monza and Brianza, received applause for the presentations by Senator Francesco Bruzzone, Vice President Alessandro Nova, Maurizio Masiero, Angelo Tresoldi, Silvio Zavaglio, and biologists Antonella Labate and Michele Sorrenti.
The future of hunting began in Abbiategrasso at 10:00 a.m. on March 2, 2019, at the first Italian conference on Hunting and Work. Launched by Senator Francesco Bruzzone (his speech was repeatedly interrupted by applause), the conference's theme, which later became the slogan for the entire event ("Hunting is Young," "Career Prospects in the Hunting World"), highlighted the need for change.
A new path for a world that is beginning to open up to exciting opportunities, ranging from censuses to game farming, from the protection of traditional habitats to the recovery of hunting-friendly areas, from hunting dog trials to the development of concrete collaboration with the agricultural world for the revitalization of marginalized areas. These proposals reach a world too often condemned to repopulation and capture, or vice versa, like a fate from which everyone tries in vain to escape. It is significant that the meeting took place in Abbiategrasso, a city dear to Tommaso Marinetti, the "inventor" of the Futurism that opened doors and opened new opportunities to young people who contributed to the transformation of art and literature, customs and politics, making Italy dream at the beginning of the last century.
The meeting took place in the Palazzo Stampa, a stunning location made available by Mayor Cesare Nai, who was unable to attend and was replaced (with honors) by Councilor Francesco Bottene, who was applauded for his precise and concrete speech. The event, entirely organized by Federcaccia, was organized by the Abbiategrasso FIDC staff, coordinated by provincial vice president Alessandro Nova (who delivered a valuable report on the relationship between hunting and public administration). The driving force behind it were Franco Fagnani, who then coordinated the speeches; Corrado Montanari, Giovanni Baldo, Marco Pietrasanta, Gianni Locatelli; the president of the Abbiategrasso FIDC, Emanuele Pansera; and Mauro Ribolini, author of the iconic poster.
The idea was born from a brief mention by Vittorio Zocca during last year's FIDC Provincial Assembly: Alessandro Nova, Franco Fagnani, Corrado Montanari, and the others took it on board and imbued it with meaning and personality, giving it the Federation's stamp. The applause was equally echoed for both Vice President Nova and Caterina Pusterla, a very young hunter and dog breeder. She has given a new meaning—that of the youthful years and the enthusiasm that characterizes them—to hunting and participation in territorial governance. Alessandro Nova has provided a broad and highly original analysis of the hunting situation and its relationship with the Region, stating, among other things, that regional governments, in order to address shortcomings noted not only by hunters and made even more evident by the abolition of the Provinces, must, if they wish to bring about a positive change in policy, draw on the vast experience of the hunting world and open themselves to young people with specializations that presuppose, in addition to organizational and executive skills, a passion and predisposition for nature—two qualities that are not lacking in hunters.
Luca Agnelli, former provincial councilor for hunting, emphasized that the Region cannot fail to offer opportunities in the hunting sector and must draw on young people with a strong aptitude for nature. Silvio Zavaglio, official Beretta, has opened new vistas in the world of work, which is in greater need of attention than ever before. From hunting – and the Beretta with a model school teaching – he said – important opportunities can arise that capable young people cannot fail to seize”.
