Hunting rifle, currently offered in .308 Win caliber, it is a practical, robust and certainly versatile weapon given that its reloading speed brings it close to a semi-automatic and can also be a good rival for bolt actions.
Presented at the spring fairs, it immediately aroused the interest of enthusiasts because it contains many interesting solutions that translate into sure appreciation.
First of all, the M25 is currently produced in three versions, all chambered in .308 Win: the M25 Pure with a wooden stock, the M25 Extreme with a polymer stock, and the M25 Max with a wooden stock and a “Thumbhole” type stock that allows the stock to be inserted into the appropriate hole at the rear of the pistol.
The rifle in all three versions is equipped with a classic design with a linear-operation bolt with polymer covering the metal core.
The barrel with its breech is inserted into the chassis and is 51 cm long with a 17 mm muzzle, it is subjected to a so-called "cold" forging, and made of special steel and covered along its entire length with a plasma oxidized surface treatment. Mauser, featuring excellent resistance to atmospheric agents. The muzzle thread ends with an M15x1 thread, allowing for the installation of a flash hider or sound moderator where hunting is permitted.
The slide can be opened by pulling the cocking lever back to a 15° angle. The slide's movement is exceptionally smooth, and its travel is very long, allowing for easy extraction of spent cases or ammunition. This also suggests that the rifle is perhaps designed to accommodate larger calibers in the future.
The final release of the bolt is possible by lowering a lever on the right side which also allows access to the adjustment of the release weight which is possible in the range of 700 – 1.700 grams.
The safety has a classic approach: by pulling the lever back the trigger chain and the movement of the bolt are blocked, while if you want to further unload the weapon by removing the cartridge from the barrel, the tail part of the safety lever must be pressed downwards.
A Picatinny or other type of rear cantilevered slide (saddle type) is fitted onto the upper part of the breech block. Blaser) for the assembly of optical or electronic sights.
In the M25Ma the stock houses a movable cheek rest in the wood laminate, the movement of which is achieved by loosening two tightening screws, for which the appropriate key is supplied.
There is the option of having the cocking handle on both the right and left sides.
The shutter closes with the expansion of two opposing locking blocks with a large surface area which expand when closed, resulting in a completely intimate fit with their respective housings.
The polymer magazine that protrudes only slightly from the wood holds three rounds of ammunition, but a larger 5-round magazine can be requested as an option.
The prices offered on the official website of Mauser which is €1.949,00 for the M25 Max, €1.749,00 for the M25 Extreme and €1.849,00 for the M25 Pure.
The rifle stands out for its extreme versatility: thanks to its quick reloading it can be used for driven hunts as a replacement for a semi-automatic, but it can also be used very well for select shooting due to its precision which is comparable to that of the best bolt actions.
