A deliberate decision by the Veneto Region's Environmental Policy Commission. The original 10.000-hectare area will return 2.000 hectares to hunting.
Despite numerous protests, the reduction in the total area of the Lessinia Park, in the province of Verona, was approved. This was achieved after consulting stakeholders, particularly farmers, hunters, and environmental groups. More time was deemed necessary, but the majority preferred a quick vote.
The ball now passes to the Budget and Programming Committee to verify its financial feasibility.
A further vote will then be held before the Veneto Regional Council. The path taken, however, appears to be the definitive reduction and return of a large area to hunting.
