The Italian government is working to complete the drafting of the extraordinary plan regulating wildlife management.
Luigi D'Erano, Undersecretary of Agriculture, responding to a parliamentary question from Stefano Vaccari (PD), announced that the Italian government is about to adopt the decree reinstating the National Wildlife and Hunting Technical Committee. He also stated that the Committee will be the appropriate technical and scientific forum to address issues related to wildlife management and hunting in Italy.
The Committee will be composed of representatives of the local authorities and the competent ministries, and the meetings will be attended by ISPRA technicians, as well as members of agricultural and hunting associations.
Vaccari further asked what data was available to the government; the undersecretary responded that there were currently no reports that local authorities sent to the Ministry. The government was urged to promote data collection in order to gain a comprehensive view of what was happening nationwide.
