We expected something like this, given the prior political interest of a Ligurian M5S undersecretary who had already announced he would use the weapon of challenge to advance his political positions: and so it happened.
We once again acknowledge Minister Costa's stance, but this time they have truly dropped the mask, demonstrating and confessing that these challenges are driven by political interests over legal ones. This is a very serious attitude, contrary to what should be a consistent respect for the Constitution, which requires that the legitimacy of regional laws be reviewed solely based on their potential conflict with national law.
This regional law had been agreed upon with all local stakeholders, but it's unfortunate that the Ligurian Five Star Movement isn't even interested in considering the needs of rural communities. This is a matter of common sense and protection of reality, which ignores the demands of abstract environmental philosophies.
The law will remain in force, I am confident that the Constitutional Court will have the opportunity to explain to the Ligurian M5S how wrong it is to use institutions for their political ends."
This was stated by Francesco Bruzzone, senator of the League.
