The aim is to dedicate a week at European level to the promotion of wild meat and its healthy and sustainable supply chain.
The Italian Hunting Federation, along with the UNA Foundation – Man, Nature, Environment – together with the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FACE) and the hunting associations Enalcaccia and Arcicaccia, announces the launch of Game Meat Week, a Europe-wide campaign to promote game meat. The campaign will take place from November 4 to 11, 2024, with the aim of uniting in a single movement all those interested in the world of wild meat, from field to table.
Through a week of social media engagement, Game Meat Week aims to raise public awareness, including among the general public, about the environmental, nutritional, and cultural benefits of game meat.
This position is expressed by FACE, of which Federcaccia – like Enalcaccia – is a member, and is aligned with that of the UNA Foundation, which for years has been actively involved in the dissemination and promotion of game meat, especially through the Selvatici e Buoni project, created in 2017 to promote and stimulate the creation of a healthy and sustainable wild meat supply chain, also capable of generating employment and economic benefits for the communities and territories involved.
" Promoting the consumption of game meat among the vast majority of non-hunters is one of the many initiatives Federcaccia has been involved in for some time, alone or in collaboration with other associations. A joint European initiative in this direction is therefore very welcome, " stated Federcaccia National President Massimo Buconi. " 74% of Italians already say they eat game-based dishes when they have the opportunity, and over half say they would be interested in purchasing it regularly if it were easily available. Society's acceptance and appreciation of hunting also begins at the table ."
"At the UNA Foundation, we believe in a sustainable hunting model that protects biodiversity and ecosystem health, and can be a positive element in the economic and social fabric of local communities through the promotion of a regulated wild meat supply chain," commented Maurizio Zipponi, President of the UNA Foundation. "FACE's Game Meat Week is a valuable initiative, and we are confident it will contribute to raising awareness of the positive role of hunting in wildlife conservation and management."
To participate in Game Meat Week, through its social channels, FACE invites you to use the official hashtag, #GameMeatWeek, for any content produced on the topic, and to follow the Federation's official profiles.
