After ten years of exciting industrial ride, Benelli makes its debut in the Bolt Action sector with a rifle that, more than a weapon, will be a fascinating "hunting experience" for many. A careful look to the future has always been the prerogative of Benelli, a vision that has consistently translated into valuable weapons capable of outperforming the competition. Innovation is the rule in Urbino; innovation is never an end in itself but rather aimed at making the hunting experience simple and effective. And the name chosen for the Bolt Action – LUPO – recalls the extraordinary efficiency of the predator in procuring its meal: simple and definitive acts of a relentless ruler of the food chain. Such is the wolf and such is the LUPO of BenelliAnd to achieve these levels, the Urbino-based company has put into this Bolt Action, which strikes at first sight for its unique and beautiful forms, the usual technological component and a capacity for study, design and development that the world envies. The LUPO project has synthesized a multitude of observations from those who use the hunting rifle in the field and given the logical impossibility of creating a weapon that would satisfy everyone, Benelli has chosen an "important" path to give the hunter the "easy and customizable" option. Or rather - and this is perhaps the most innovative feature of the LUPO rifle - a series of modular packages have been created, which guarantee the hunter the best affinity in relation to personal shooting postures: Perfect Fitting, Progressive Comfort, LOP Spacers and Combetch are terms we will return to but already in themselves represent a very significant innovation in the Bolt Action sector which historically require the user to have a strong predisposition for adaptation. The positioning that Benelli wanted to give its LUPO, it could only aspire to the high end of the market, because the company's style and the introduction of so much technology into the project cannot lead to any other positioning. A superb weapon therefore, and despite being an industrial product, in general work was done on the absolute refinement of tolerances and on a decidedly interesting concept, that is, adapting the LUPO to each individual caliber, with the aim of making the weapon the best support for each ammunition in the production calibers envisaged by the development program of Benelli. These, at the current stage of launch on the domestic market, are .30-06, .300 WIN MAG, .270 WIN, .308 WIN, 6,5 Creedmoor and .243 WIN. Benelli wanted to include in its rifle a series of features and technical characteristics that allow it to concentrate shots within an MOA even from long shooting distances with all the aforementioned calibers and to achieve this goal it has made, as per its tradition, technical choices at thevanguardia. ERGONOMICS A unique feature of the LUPO in the bolt action genre is the division of the receiver into a bolt box and a chassis. The former is made of steel and the latter of aircraft-grade aluminum, a configuration that has allowed for optimal management of the user interface so that each LUPO can be fully customized for its user. For this reason, the stock and forend are two separate components, both intimately and solidly joined to the receiver. The stock therefore respects the concept of Perfect Fitting, adapting with multiple drop and cast configurations to the hunter's needs. Both the stock and forend are made of fiberglass-reinforced technopolymer, which, as the most attentive hunters know, is an extremely rigid material that is insensitive to climatic variations. Both feature AirTouch checkering, which ensures a significant and firm grip thanks to its shape, which has the ability to remove humidity through ventilation and leave the gripping surface dry, projecting towards a wide, oblique, and particularly comfortable trigger guard. Looking at the stock of the LUPO, one cannot help but appreciate the high-tech components that distinguish it. The ComfortTech 3 system has been applied here, an evolution of what many smoothbore enthusiasts already know from semi-autos. BenelliThis latest version, developed specifically for the LUPO, is made of polymer beams inside the stock that are capable of highly effectively dampening the retrograde thrust even in the most demanding calibers for which the rifle is chambered. The result is an efficient reduction in recoil through energy dissipation. Added to this is the further mitigating effect of the butt plate, made of a structure of micro air bubbles that compresses while maintaining its original shape. Further technology is introduced in the comb which, in addition to the modularity of three heights to choose from, allows for the dampening of the microvibrations that normally affect the cheek when firing. The combination of the three aforementioned components allows for much less stress on the hunter's body compared to similar rifles on the market. The LOP adjustment option is intrinsic to it, allowing for the best distance between the trigger and the butt plate for each hunter out of 6 available combinations. The forend houses the magazine, which also features technical features tovanguardia. It is a double-stack design with alternate ammunition feeding, allowing the ammunition to be positioned in line with the chamber, ensuring that the tip of the bullet never damages the chamber when the bolt closes. Its capacity is 5 rounds, with the exception of the .300 WIN MAG, which holds 4 rounds. Many of the features highlighted above are already there, but when we get closer to the heart of the weapon (bolt-barrel-trigger) we realize even more how Benelli has intended to project itself into the future. BARREL The barrel, made of a particular profile designed to optimize the vibration regime, has a muzzle diameter of 17,2 mm, which is among the largest among hunting rifles. This choice is made due to the possibility of inserting a silencer, where required or permitted, or alternatively, a muzzle brake, already present among the accessories proposed for the LUPO. The free-floating barrel is intimately joined to the bolt carrier via the recoil lug and two screws; it benefits from the Crio treatment which allows for the elimination of all internal stresses residual from its manufacturing, allowing for consistent sub-MOA efficiency. The rifling twists are different in the various calibers: 8” (6.5 CREED), 10” (.243 WIN, .270 WIN) and 11” (.308 WIN, .30-06 SPRG, .300 WIN MAG). The BEST treatment guarantees absolute protection from aggression and impacts. BOX, SAFETY, BOLT, TRIGGER The bolt box is completely made of steel and is coupled to the chassis in aeronautical aluminum. On its back, there are three series of threaded holes for housing sleds for optics among those most popular with hunters. Alternatively, the Benelli The LUPO comes with two bases, one in front and one behind the ejection port. A further alternative that completes the wide range of options is a Picatinny base that can be positioned on the back of the bolt carrier. The bolt is a small masterpiece of engineering and precision workmanship. Its rear section houses the safety on which Benelli conducted an in-depth study with intensive comparison tests with commercially available firearms for the same intended use. The final choice was a sliding safety, operable with equal ease from both the right and left hand, which locks the trigger in the rearward position and enables the weapon to fire when moved forward. This position is indicated by the appearance of a red disc and the emergence of a cocked firing pin indicator at the rear. These two features draw the hunter's attention to the safety. The safety position locks the trigger, keeping the weapon safe even in the event of accidental drops or strong impacts, as well as the bolt. The bolt can, however, be released by operating the specific lever for checking the firing chamber. Removing the bolt is simple and intuitive, performed by acting on the release lever, and its extraction reveals the efficiency of the BEST treatment in its fluidity of movement, a treatment that, as is well known, provides a very high level of protection against the aggressions that metals undergo over time. The bolt movement is therefore very smooth, and a 60° rotation causes it to retract, exposing the three important lugs and the massive extractor, as well as the ejector at its top. The whole thing is activated by a particularly ergonomic ejection lever that every hunter will appreciate, along with the fluid movement that allows for reloading with evident speed; there is no obstacle, even with large optics, which in practice on the hunting ground is an additional plus of the LUPO. The very easy extraction of the magazine allows access to the trigger pull weight adjustment. Everything is so easy that it can be done even in the countryside; the possible adjustment range goes from a minimum of 9.99 N to 20 N. On the release Benelli has worked hard to reduce the time between pressing the trigger and striking the primer – lock time – to help reduce the shooter's limitations, as micro-movements can alter his aim before the bullet has left the muzzle. Just like the game bird that inspired it, which has a highly protective coat, so in the Benelli LUPO all steel parts have been subjected to the BEST treatment, a highly protective barrier against atmospheric agents. Benelli addressed the concept of the overall weight of the weapon, considering that excessive lightness becomes a serious limitation when taking aimed shots, especially at medium-long ranges. This allowed us to define the weight of the LUPO between 3.180 and 3.230 grams with barrel lengths of 56 (243 WIN, .270 WIN, .308 WIN, .30-06 SPRG) and 61 (6.5 CREED, .300 WIN MAG). The largely computerized design of the LUPO, which we can already appreciate in gun shops, was followed by a long phase of particularly stringent testing. Benelli He repeatedly fired his rifle in extremely critical environmental conditions from -35° to +50°, using special ammunition with pressures far superior even to those of forced tests. This is an investment of time and resources from which the hunter will derive the maximum possible benefit, as will the extensive series of tests conducted for each individual caliber, with most of the ammunition available on the European and North American markets. The LUPO is priced at €1.900, a little or a lot depending on your budget; the technological innovation and the presence of many significant technical solutions fully justify it. If the magnificent wild wolf is the absolute ruler of the food chain in vast areas of the globe, today it has a fearsome competitor in the Benelli WOLF. Just as he has developed and refined his physical structure and techniques during his evolution for the sole purpose of successful prey, so today Benelli He has provided us with a weapon, the culmination of over half a century of research and development, which can make the modern hunter his fiercest competitor. Riccardo Ceccarelli

After ten years of exciting industrial ride, Benelli makes its debut in the bolt action sector with a rifle that, more than a weapon, will be a fascinating "hunting experience" for many.

The LUPO project has synthesized a multitude of observations from those who use hunting rifles in the field and in the logical impossibility of creating a weapon that would satisfy everyone, Benelli has chosen a "significant" path to provide the hunter with "easy and customizable" options. Or rather - and this is perhaps the most innovative feature of the LUPO rifle - a series of modular packages have been created, which guarantee the hunter the best affinity in relation to personal shooting postures: Perfect Fitting, Progressive
