The Umbria Regional Council, acting on a proposal from Hunting Councillor Fernanda Cecchini, has suspended issuing new permits for fixed hides without live decoys until the regional hunting plan has been approved.
"Permanent hides," the councilor explains, "are included among the hunting methods provided for by national law, and their territorial location falls within the parameters established and codified by the Wildlife Hunting Plan, which is currently under review. All the criteria for territorial division and for identifying hunting management methods are also being reviewed."
“With the reorganization of administrative functions – continues the councilor – the hunting management functions carried out by the Provinces have been brought back under the control of the regional administration. In the case of fixed hides without live decoys, these followed different procedures for the two provincial territories of Perugia and Terni .”
"We believe it is appropriate," Councilor Cecchini notes, "that the procedures for issuing permits for the installation and maintenance of hides be consistent and uniform across the entire region. Therefore," he concludes, "while awaiting the new Regional Wildlife and Hunting Plan, which will define the criteria for dividing and allocating protected areas and areas for planned hunting management, we have instructed the regional offices to suspend issuing new permits for this type of hide."
