According to Coldiretti Calabria, the high presence of wild boars in the region is a veritable scourge. The association is asking hunters for help.
Coldiretti Calabria has raised the alarm over the uncontrolled presence of the wild boar population. A statement states not only the damage to agriculture, but also the serious health risks, particularly related to brucellosis and tuberculosis.
Coldiretti is calling on the Calabria Regional Council to acknowledge the emergency and adopt measures to keep wild boar numbers under control year-round. In fact, they are requesting a measure allowing owners and managers of agricultural land with hunting licenses to cull wild boars.
The Association states that in some areas, the very survival of agricultural businesses is now at risk, and the situation is becoming unsustainable in all agricultural areas of the Calabria Region.
