In recent days, the young bear F20, known for her rather reserved behavior, was captured in Val Genova using a tube trap, radio-collared, and released on site by Trentino Forestry Corps personnel.
This operation was carried out as part of the provincial administration's ongoing and careful monitoring and prevention efforts on the bear population. The radio collar will allow for closer monitoring of the animal and facilitate the adoption of any deterrent measures, such as bear dogs or rubber ammunition.
"The concern expressed by the population," commented Councilor Michele Dallapiccola, "is very important to us, even though the number of incidents involving nuisance bears is in line with previous years. For this reason, we have carried out additional technical operations.
Naturally, we are waiting for the Roman government to approve the measures we've been proposing for some time, both through implementing legislation and a bill that will soon be presented to the Provincial Council. These measures will allow us to more effectively manage problematic bears and wolves.
