Occitanie is a region in southern France, and its hunting initiatives are certainly worth exploring and understanding. Take a seat.
The Occitanie region in southern France boasts 150.000 hunters organized into 13 local federations. These are undoubtedly people and skills that should not be squandered, and so it is.
Here, the Regional Department actively supports hunting and fishing, unequivocally. This commitment has been successfully implemented for three years now. The initiative focuses on the development of rural and agricultural areas and plans to mobilize €1,3 million to encourage hunters and fishermen to take concrete environmental protection measures.
The Regional Hunters' Federation acts as a driving force behind these initiatives, which range from habitat conservation to the restoration of suitable environments for grouse, from little bustard management and recovery projects to wetland conservation projects, from the creation of ecological corridors to the maintenance of biodiversity in agricultural sectors and related support for the management of wildlife overpopulations.
But the available funds will be used to go further: relocating the chamois from the Tarn Gorges is a priority, as is the development of a network of cold storage facilities aimed at supporting the tourism sector by offering meat from hunting and therefore wild animals. The measures therefore also include the development of hunting tourism.
And listen up, part of the funds will be allocated to support the construction of training centers for obtaining hunting licenses, training centers for guided nature trails run by hunters, and educational activities in schools.
One might think that Occitania, so close to hunting-loving Piedmont, so committed to the survival of hunting that it even confined us, is truly another world.
